Some Rain, a Garden, and a Hand Full of Peppers

It’s raining

Finally

After a long drought

The raindrops are hesitant like

maple syrup slowly oozing out of its glass bottle

unlike ink fluidly flowing from a writer’s pen

Outside, the mailboxes are dripping from rainwater

Dust and dirt washed away

Somewhere, far away, a bluejay dances in the unexpected shower,

shaking its bright blue wings with pride

I venture out to the garden, with

an imaginary dog named Bob

wagging its tail excitedly after me

The garden is blooming in the rain

as I pick our homegrown green chili peppers,

using the cup of my hand as a plate

The mind feels refreshed as the

raindrops reluctantly pour down,

ready to play
