Our fourth day in Mauritius called for a visit to a nearby island, Ile Aux Cerfs. The island was a far but lovely drive along the Mauritian countryside. The little boats that would take us to the island cost 600 rupees (1 dollar ~ 35 Mauritian rupees) per person for a 20 minute trip each way. The waves were so playful, we got splashed several times!
The boat ride was the perfect length and felt equally relaxing. The island was another site in itself–it literally resembled paradise and the pictures I was lucky enough to take are living proof of that. We ate at one of the three main restaurants on the island–wood-fired pizza and more coconut based Mauritian curries with rice. The ambiance was great–wood tables placed under straw shacks. The beach was covered in white sand with a small natural pool shallow enough for people of all ages to swim in. The water was probably one of the clearest and the bluest I have ever seen!
Back at ‘Le Bengaleau’, we took a walk along the shore as the sun set beautifully behind us.
